DESCRIPTION

The editor’s creative influence on a film cannot be understated.   This workshop will give a brief lesson on the history of editing and give context to the editors role in the filmmaking process.  This workshop will be a professionally guided, hands-on, project based experience where you will learn how to edit a scene from start to finish.  Students will organize provided footage, set up a project in Premiere Pro, and edit a scene from assembly cut through final export.  Students will learn basics of titling, color, sound, credits, transitions, exporting and more. We’ll also review the edited scenes, give constructive feedback tips and tricks on how to improve the final edit.  It’ll teach students and refresh professional minds with the necessary practical skills and workflow for approaching different projects when using Premiere Pro*.  

  • Having a current version of Premiere Pro already downloaded onto your computer is required
  • There will be outside of class assignments so that you may get the most out of this experience

INSTRUCTOR: Jodi Cilley

Jodi Cilley is a long-time filmmaker, entrepreneur, and educator. She has been teaching video production since 2004 and has taught video and editing at San Diego City College, UC San Diego Extension Digital Arts Center, Platt College, and the Media Arts Center San Diego. She has produced over a hundred projects including web series, short films, TV specials, documentaries, and commercial projects, and recently produced Film Indiego, a 6-Part TV Series for KPBS.
