Our Story

The Film Consortium San Diego LLC started in late 2012 by Founder and President Jodi Cilley, as a social venture that stimulates film and television production in the region and increases networking, employment, educational, funding and distribution opportunities in film, television and new media.

The Film Consortium started by holding small screenings, networking events and pitchfests that encouraged San Diego’s professional, student and independent filmmakers to work together and create content.

In 2014, the Film Consortium began producing the San Diego Film Awards– a televised award show that celebrates and recognizes San Diego’s filmmakers, talent and crew in an extravagant live awards show televised on KPBS. In 2016, Film Consortium San Diego produced Film Indiego for KPBS. Film Indiego is a 6 part series that highlight the “glorious past, present and future of film in San Diego
By 2017, The Film Consortium launched San Diego Film Week. A 10 day long event across multiple venues that screens over 100 local films as well as “best-of” selections from many of San Diego’s film festivals. San Diego Film Week grew rapidly and continues to be the centerpiece of the Film Consortium events.
Film Consortium San Diego also holds production and acting workshops as well as works with KPBS on multiple projects including the KPBS Explore Local Content Program and the GI Film Festival San Diego.
In 2023 the Film Consortium grew again, this time adding Film Summit, a yearly conference style event that will work to increase LA film industry presence in San Diego and provide training and educational opportunities for San Diego’s cast, crew and filmmakers.
